The energy transition is one of the greatest societal challenges of our time. Did you know that no fewer than 30,000 professionals are needed to make the transition to sustainable energy possible? To meet this enormous demand, Refugee Talent Hub, Alliander, TenneT and Enexis are joining forces and launching a brand new programme: Energy Skills.

What is Energy Skills?

Energy Skills is a preparatory course specifically designed to introduce newcomers to the energy sector. This training programme offers status holders the necessary knowledge and skills required to start as a mechanic at one of the grid operators or in the sector.

Why Energy Skills?

The energy transition is not only essential for the future of our planet, but also offers opportunities for everyone. This program helps newcomers to build their future in a growing sector, while benefiting our organizations and society. Because we need everyone to take on this challenge – in the Netherlands, Europe, and worldwide.

Houda Zaït, Partnership Manager at Refugee Talent Hub, emphasizes the importance of starting and doing: “My big dream is that companies in the Netherlands will see and utilize the talents of people with a bi-cultural background. This Energy Skills trajectory shows how far we can get by working together.”

Stephanie Oomkens and Alexander Baas of Alliander are working on system changes to attract new target groups. Stephanie says: “Everyone has something beautiful to add,” and Alexander adds: “I hope that people will take action and use their full potential.”

Marriet Boersma of Enexis is committed to an inclusive organizational culture: “I dream of a world in which diversity and inclusion initiatives are no longer necessary because everyone can be themselves.”

Froukje de Vries of TenneT sees creating equal opportunities as her most important task: “Our dreams start small, but together we can achieve big changes.”
